LITTLE KID ALL NIGHT
‘All Night’ is the latest track from Toronto quartet Little Kid, whose new album, Transfiguration Highway, is due for release July 3rd. The tune sticks to a slow tempo and composition rooted in folk music and indirectly inspired by Christian music from across history. The floaty triple time, quiet organ chords and occasional bursts of harmonica combine to create a relaxing, refreshing sound. The song is built on the interesting yet tragic story of Tammy Wynette, who recorded an album with her abusive husband just a couple of years after their divorce: “I was really saddened to read about that, and to picture how that must have felt for Tammy. I can’t relate directly, but as a survivor of abuse, I can only imagine what it would feel like to have to sing with my abuser, much less to have to sing love songs with him and act like everything is OK,” explains co-lead vocalist of Little Kid, Kenny Boothby. Be sure to listen out for Transfiguration Highway. - Dan Peeke
